Just like many others I'm struggling to find a petrol station with premium diesel. I've always used premium diesel because that's what I was told by the previous owner. But can I use the cheaper diesel if that's all I can get. I have a 2013 3.0 V6

Thanks @Patch58. I was under the impression I should be using premium each fill. Which fuel injector cleaner do you use and do you notice a difference after using it?

Using standard petrol is ok, do use premium fuel though as a rule.

You can get some stuff call redex (think that is the name) you add it in when you fuel your car if using standard fuel, does the same job as premium fuel.

It’s ok to use the supermarket stuff

I do and 150000 miles later it’s still running like a Swiss watch

The absolute best thing you can do for your engine is change the Oil (correct handbook spec) regularly

Hi All,  I use supermarket diesel in my Mondeo 2ltr estate ( sorry hopefully a Jag XF Sportbrake next year! ) and use Cataclean Diesel additive every 4 months. MPG has improved now to 56/ 58 mpg and never had an issue with a failed DPF regeneration. Its quite funny though when it regens, goes a bit sluggish until you put your foot down in 3rd a big cloud of grey soot comes out the exhaust! It then clears and is good again for around another 500 miles or so. Its a 2009 Zetec model by the way with 168k miles on it.
