In an earlier post I mentioned that my 2017 XF Prestige was showing "low battery voltage". I assumed that it was because I have only been doing short trips. I decided to run it up to KwikFit ten miles away for a battery check. They reported that the battery was OK. However, today I checked the voltage with a plug-in digital voltmeter before starting the engine and it read 10.9 volts. When I started the engine it went up to 14 volts. This is the original JLR battery, so I think it needs replacing. My question is how can KwikFit say it's OK? Wouldn't they jump at the chance to sell me a new battery? So they must have thought it was OK! I'm not sure how they load test the battery.

Hi -  I'm on my third S  type and I've had several problems including stuck on parking brake, Restricted Performance messages etc and, I'm lucky but, in every case the problem has been caused by cold weather, short journeys and consequently low battery voltage (11.5 this morning!). A substantial recharge or battery replacement has cleared the problems and reinstated my faith in the car. My current car is a 2006 diesel and came to me 3  weeks ago from a dealer. It seemed to have been well looked after but a Restricted Performance message caused me too doubt. I think for people new to the cars or others who contemplate replacing EGM units etcit may be a cheaper first check.
