Hi folks. I am new to the world of Jaguar (although I do own a beautiful Landover) and I am trying to get hold of either a lovely XK8 coupe or a drop head. Ideally I want a late model 2005 but after seeing three cars all of them have rotting rear subframe support brackets (see images).

Now these appear to be bolt-on steel brackets and I was wondering if anyone has had experience of replacing them, either personally (is there a procedure anywhere) or by a specialist (in which case how much did it cost).

What amazes me is how for such a seemingly important subframe part all three cars had current (and recent) MOTs in which with only one was the corrosion mentioned as an advisery. Just how corroded do these need to get without failing??

Cheers all and Happy New Year.

Garry

Thanks Julie. I hope soon to have a lovely 'Jag' in the garage to keep as a 'Hobby car' certainly not a daily driver.

Do you think it's worth asking the question on this forum if anyone has a nice late XK8 (corrosion free) for sale and which section would be best to ask that question??

Thanks. Garry

Yes its worth asking, you never know.🙂

Hope you find your dream car.

You can put it in items for sale.

Kind Regards,

Julie.
