Help!

This will be my first winter with my X type 3.0 AWD. I was thinking it would be fine if we get any snowy weather but I seem to keep reading that the post 2004 electronoc AWD system without the DSC option (mine) is useless in the snow !. Please tell me it ain't so. The 4 wheel drive system on my car is one of the things that I know niggles my BMW owning neighbour so I wouldn't like him to think it wasn't any good.馃槃
