The check engine amber warning light is displayed intermittently on my 2016 XF 2.0D. The car drives perfectly and there are no performance or other issues when the light is on. It may be a coincidence but It only seems to show the warning when the fuel tank drops below half full. If I fill the tank the light goes out after a while and stays off until the fuel is below half again. I tried replacing the filler cap but this has made no difference.

Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Try reading the error  code to see what it advises.

there are 6 error codes stored

P0480 - Fan 1 Control circuit

P2BAE - NOx Exceeded - NOx Monitoring System

P2251 - Oxygen Sensor Negative Current Control - Circuit Open Bank 1 - Sensor 1

P050F - Brake Assist vacuum too low

P062A - Fuel Pump A Control - Circuit Range Performance

P208C - Reductant Pump Control - Circuit Low

The most likely cause seems to be the oxygen sensor so I have had this replaced and have cleared all codes so will see how it goes.
