Most of the time the car behaves well but will drop into reduced performance and DSC unavailable when load applied to engine ie accelerating up a hill, or overtaking a string of lorries on the motorway (not a pleasant or reassuring experience).

Any ideas anyone?

Does it lose power when in automatic mode only? Can you use the paddles? Not to fix the issue, just process of elimination?

Hi Carl, the fault also affects the paddles, however, I use the paddles to keep in a gear that is below 2000 rpm. Above 2000 rpm the car has an acceleration akin to a snail.

It could be due to a number of issues. How old is the battery, would check here first it can be an early sign it on its way out. Does stop start work, assuming its on your model.

Next guess would be a faulty sensor a there are a number linked up to the DSC, worth plugging in a code reader to see if anything obvious. Have heard of the ABS cable failing on older cars, another place to check too.

Sorry, yes it is a diesel 2.7 litre

Hi Keith, I have an S Type 2.7 litre diesel and I also get the DSC Not Available message now and again. I also get various other warning messages. What I have gleaned is that most of them are caused by the battery not being fully charged. It doesn't necessarily mean that your battery is on the way out it might just need a good charge. I've bought myself a 'C-Tek Time to Go charger which I've found to be very useful. I still get the odd warning light but usually switching off the engine and restarting clears them.

Hope this helps.
