Realistic mpg?

Hi,

I’m looking to buy an automatic 2.2D 2011-2013 saloon and wondered what mpg is from actual owners?

I’ve been looking on Parker’s quite a bit recently. I noticed that in mid 2013 the engine was tweaked to give lower emissions and slightly better mpg

What would be a realistic mpg for a 20 mile each way motorway commute at 60-70mph?

Thank you

Hi

I get @25mpg in town, @35mpg on short journeys to the shops etc, @42mpg on a run and 50+ on a motorway run. Highest I have managed is 62mpg at a steady 55mph on a quiet, flat motorway.

Love the car in all of the above scenarios. Your actual figures would depend on how far you are from the motorway at each end, what the traffic on the motorway is like etc, but mid 40's is easily achievable on that sort of journey.

🙂

I have only driven my XF 2.2 in a urban area and on the country roads of Derbyshire, driving it steady with the occasional burst of power and I am getting 35mpg. So after my previous car which was a Nissan Elgrand 3.5 petrol doing the same sort of driving and getting no more than 15mpg. I think the fuel consumption is pretty good. Can't wait to see what it does on the motorway and a long trip.

Hi Dakota,

Your model is the same as mine, although mine's a 2014 '64' plate. I regularly do 20 or 30 mile commutes, the longer ones including 10 miles or so of the M5. I get around early 50s for these trips.

If I head off to the Midlands to see family I can easily see 58+ with the best trip (filling up a mile before the motorway and stopping a mile off at the other end) managing to get 62 mpg indicated on the screen. Mine's had a Bluefin remap and I use Cruise Control for these types of trip.

Around town I'm looking at early 40s and very high 40s cross-country on 'A' roads. It's a very economical vehicle for it's size!

Best regards,

Rich.
