Now I know I'm probably missing something obvious but I recently ordered a replacement transfer box which arrived today and is being fitted by my local indie this week.

What I don't understand is how this thing gets power to both front wheels from only one output without a front diff. I can only see 3 shaft inputs, one for the transmission, one for the rear prop and one transverse for the front drive. It's doing my head in trying to work it out

Hi

From fig 58 it looks like the front axle differential is built into the gearbox casing,

Blimey, thanks for that John. So it looks like the three inputs on the Transfer box are for power, rear axle and one of the front drive shafts with the other driven through the gearbox casing. Now you see why there is no way I will be tackling this job myself, would probably end up with the car (and me) in 😃pieces.
