I'm having problems with my jag. Its holding back and I've had a few diagnostic checks with a variety of faults from gear box problems to fuel and filters. I keep paying for these checks and repairs but nothing seems to work. There must be a mechanic somewhere who just needs to test drive it and have an idea what it could be? Any feed back would help

You do not quote where/what garage is doing these checks that you pay for. Is it a specialist Jaguar Dealer or a Main Agent or just a general garage.

As a suggestion have you thought about using an independent Jaguar specialist.

I would be very inclined not to pay for work being done if it were not done to my satisfaction and requirement.

Do you have a diagnostic unit of your own. If you have list any codes that are showing up and someone on this Forum will sure to be able to give some suggestions for you in respect of identifying your problem/s.

Hope you do get it sorted. Best Wishes and Regards, John

The garage i took it to was just a general repair shop. I had the AA come out when it wouldn't start. He banged the tank and said it was a pump in the tank. Then I had it serviced had new filters. Now its just back as it was. I rang a jag specialist in Nottingham but he said he was busy and maybe l should change the EGR valve. Are those diagnostic units any good?

With Diagnostic Units it is a case of you get what you pay for.

A cheaper one will diagnose most engine faults/codes, but for other systems you usually need a slightly higher priced unit.

I have two, a Foseal cheaper model with is around £20.00 and copes very well with engine needs. Then I have a iCarsoft CR PRO , which covers all makes of car and which is very good for all systems and is around £225. There are cheaper models that have the software but are specific to car make. I.E. Jaguar.

To my mind a diagnostic unit is an essential part of owning and successfully being able to run a Jaguar. That is of course my opinion, which others would be very entitled to disagree with.

Good Luck with sorting your car.

Best Wishes and Regards, John

Thank you for your advice I will be getting a diagnostic unit as my local main dealer wanted 250 plus vat to do a diagnostic check.

Kevin, You will find it useful. If you put the codes you find on this Forum someone will have some advice/knowledge to offer you.

Best Wishes, John
