'68 XF Sportbrake - Sat with ignition off listening to radio for about an hour ( Energy management involved so On/Off every 15 minutes using audio button). Started car, radio stays on but screen remained showing just Jaguar logo for rest of journey so unable to access satnav. At home, turned engine off, opened door, radio turns off. Start car again and all ok on screen. Is there anything I could have done on the journey to restore screen or is there a fault?

I had same issue on XE, never found a solution, seemed to reset itself after 30 minutes or so of car being switched off. Happened every 3 months or so, Jaguar could never find the fault 😞

One reads so many of these stories with XF`s and XE`s I am surprised that Jaguar have bee successful in selling these models.  I would by no means suggest that my S-Type has been 100% perfect but at her age and with 64 K miles she does not seem to cause as many problems. To think I was actually contemplating upgrading to an XF or an XE, but I think I am likely to stick with my S-Type , which I personally feel was the last of the true Jaguar styled models. I am hoping she will see me out, being I am now 72 years young and must surely have a limited time of enjoying driving ahead of me.

Good luck and Best Wishes to Everyone. Regards, John

Hi

Although mine is 2013 I presume basics are similar. Along with many modern luxury cars the XF has a whole raft of computers which use a LOT of energy. When you are just sat in the car without the engine running the car will be drawing several amps as the computers are all engaged waiting for you to start the car. That is why you get the warnings 🙂

Hopefully the computers will be able to reset themselves without any intervention but the modules are sensitive to low voltage events causing software corruption. Personally I ensure battery is always topped off using my CTek charger once a week.

If sitting in the car for awhile I would always keep the engine running as the computers may not shut down if you do not exit and lock the car.
