XF cut out

2015 XF 2.2 RSport saloon.

Was driving home last night and engine management light came on. Within a minute or so the engine died an would not restart. I was down to my last 100 miles of fuel with the gauge reading between a quarter and the red. I’ve never run the fuel so low in my four years of owner ship. The car was recovered to a garage where it now sits. The diagnostic code says ‘fuel pump A control circuit low’ ? Did I cause the problem? Any fix solutions? Thanks Mark
