i brought a 2009 x type diesel estate automatic

when i brought it the dealer was happy to tell me it  had a new alternator 1 month prior to me buying it

2 month down the line i am having gearbox fault problem all the time. i have been told that the wrong alternator has been fitted and can cause this problem.

is it possible to switch the gearbox fault light off from the dashboard without  changing the alternator.

i ask because i am wondering if the seller done this so as i did not see the fault when i brought the car

Get it back to the dealer and politely make your case and be firm about what you want doing about it. Do not forget, having bought from a dealer you have certain consumer rights.

Best Wishes, Good Luck and Regards, John
