Spare Tyre Info

Hi I’m new to Jaguar and also new to the website . I understand completely about Jaguar not having a spare tyre etc but just bought my car last week and was thinking that I must be missing some parts in the boot . There’s no jack or wheel brace ? What should be in the boot ?

Since you have no spare wheel, what use would a jack and wheel brace be? What you have there is an incomplete kit for effecting a temporary repair to a punctured tyre by pumping some sort of 'goo' into it. From the look of it you have the 'goo' (the white container with the red lid) but not the pump.

You as you say, "completely understand Jaguar not having a spare wheel." I unfortunately do not agree with not carrying a spare wheel and believe it to be an essential item.

My opinion is plainly of little value and is probably due to be being from the dinosaur age. I am 72 years young, thoroughly enjoy my S-Type Sport, and would never do any journey without a spare wheel.

I agree.  The previous owner of my car has apparently put some sealing liquid inside the tyres to instantly plug any punctures if they happen, which is all very laudable, except he then sold the spare wheel and the entire jack, toolkit & insert etc. to pay for it 😞, not so laudable!  I’m now trying to find a replacement spare, jack and “boot kit” to bring my car up to original specs!  What a pain.

My point was simply that, if you don’t have a spare wheel, what use is a jack and wheel brace? It’s a quite different matter altogether if you plan to carry a spare wheel and I share your views on the necessity of having one. Depending on the year of your car you may not actually have room to carry a full size spare wheel, but if not, I’ve been down this road and what I did is covered in this thread -

But if you want to stick with the puncture repair goo,  the electric pump I have is now surplus to requirements and you’re welcome to it for the cost of the postage from the Wee Six!
