Issues with both rear electric windows not going up or down and central locking to rear doors.

Hi, new to the forum, I have a 2012 XF which I bought recently and stupidly did not check the rear windows went up and down. The front two are fine, but I also have noticed they had manually locked the back doors, again did not check this because I am an idiot...

Speaking to the previous owner who was selling on behalf of his father in law, they had a new battery put in a year ago so thinks it could be to do with that?

It seems more than a coincidence that both rear windows don't go up and down and neither do the doors remote lock. It is not a major issue right now as I can set rear doors to be locked and don't use rear windows but has any one else had either of these issues?

Hi Peter

Thanks for your reply.

Seller tells me new batt fitted in last year so wondering if linked.
What do you mean by checking the numbers on radio?

Also have two other issues relating to rear windows not opening and rear doors not locking which maybe are linked to batt too.

Taking to independent jag specialist next week to see and might buy a fault code reader to check.

Car is in great condition otherwise and reduced payment accordingly.

Hi Niaz,

Sometimes the battery, however new, loses its charge because it has not been used for a few days.  The system then  will need a restart.

Yje independent Jaguar specialist will be useful and not as expensive

Regards

Peter.

I was a bout to start a similar topic. I just bought an 09 XF.

Front passenger window is stuck up. The passenger door buttons do absolutely nothing. The drivers side button, down does nothing, but when you go to raise it, you can hear it trying to do something, but obviously the window is already up.

Any suggestions, try the window reset by removing the negative on the battery for 10 mins? Or does this sound different?

Thanks @Old Peter will try some other resets this weekend and see where i am.

@LunarGrape not seen this thing about the battery, have you tried it?

I am going to try tomorrow, as I’m going to do it’s engine Oil then anyway so whilst I’m working on it I’ll do that.

Charging battery on trickle charge, suspect it won't be that but low battery does cause gremlins with our xf's

Causes troubles with most Jaguars, especially S-Types.

Lunar

Only disconnect the battery neg if you know what you’re doing

You could land in a whole heap of pain

if the window is making a sound when operated, it looks like something’s eaten itself in the winder mechanism

Hi @Bigvic the windows do not go up or down using either the driver panel or the rear controls. Can't hear any sounds either when pressing.
The other day it did come up with a very brief flash of battery light on screen but not since.
Due to go in tomorrow so will see what they say. The lock thing sounds expensive, i've seen a video on youtube for changing but worried it looks quite involved for me!

Not that I noticed, it is been in independent jag specialist near me today, receptionist said it was done ready to pick up and they would explain more but sounds like an electrical issue, mentioned resetting battery and driver pack?

Will find out more later and let you know in case of any use.

Hi all apologies for the delay in responding.

Took it to local jag specialist, they diagnosed it as being the fact the battery was replaced by last owner approx a year ago and not reset. They reset the battery to the car which fixed the windows, locks and folding mirrors [didn't even know these closed when you locked car].

Cost me £100.00 but at lease no replacement door / lock parts and am happy everything is tickety boo!
