Hi Steve,

This may be a bit more helpful than the previous answer,

It is best to use both coolant and water.

If you just use water at high engine temperatures you risk the water boiling, evaporating and damaging your engine.

But there is no harm if water low just topping up with water and when you can add coolant.

coolant has to be OAT long life, usually orange

you can buy it ready mixed or concentrate where you mix it with water
