Engine management light & engine hot

My Jaguar XF has just had the engine management light come on but I don't know why.

I lifted the bonnet & instantly noticed the engine was very hot (too hot to touch) but the radiator at the front was cold.

I checked the Oil which was OK, then I checked the temperature of the water coolant which was very hot when I put my finger in it.

Is it likely that I have a blockage?

hi

you need to plug in to see what engine codes you have

the engine run quite hot anyway, 90 plus, you would not beable to touch it and if you opened the cap on a perfectly running car, it would blow all the water out, as removing the cap, will drop the pressure and drop the boiling point so the water would flash off, also a stuck thermostat would not cause a eml light, you would get a message saying its hot

get code read

could be absolutely anything

cheers

Hello all.

Thank you for posting your replies.

I've now had an inexpensive ODB plugged in to find out more info.

It came up with one fault: P20ee

I've cleared this fault and it turned off the engine management light.

Web results for this code (P20ee) indicate: OBD code P20EE means SCR NOX Catalyst Efficiency below Threshold Bank 1 Issue

I'm hoping that this fault won't keep reappearing.

Extra info, The car is 2.0L Diesel 49K miles
