Evening everyone, just bought a XK 4.2, and really want to keep the weather off of it if possible, and think a carport is the easiest solution, but am wary of condensation.

Does anyone use one , any advice appreciated.

Hi Colin,

My car lives under the carport, most of the time, and I have never noticed any condensation in the car as a result.

Hi Colin

We used to have a cantilever car port over our drive when we brought the house. Every time the wind blew in a particular it used to make the most awful noise. Eventually a force 8 gale pulled the wall bolts and some bricks out of the wall. Fortunately it remained attached but we very quickly removed it and have never had another. Only way I would have another is with proper foundations and a solid RSJ frame. I'm very happy with the car cover I brought from Concours Auto Products and would recommend them for the quality of the product and their customer service.

hi

a good quality car port with support legs would be better than a car cover long term

you wont get damp with a car port because your not blocking the cars ventillation, also car cover are know to marking the paint long term, where they rub

also get a descent smart charger like a ctek, to keep the battery charged

cheers

Thanks for the replies folks. Am leaning towards buying a decent carport, or even building my own. Have pretty well dismissed a car cover, because living in the sticks, every time you take the car out at this time of year it comes back filthy, and as others have said a cover will be like a wire brush.

Any recommendations for carports as it seems like a minefield, with some of the cheaper options looking better than the more expensive. Some seem to have very narrow openings.

Completely agree with Joe about CTEK battery charger. Mine has just got the battery on one of my cars after 3 weeks away. I might need to get one for each of cars if going away for an extended break in future.

Could not be without my CTEK MS 7.0

Best Wishes and Regards, John
