I jumped started my 1998 XJ8 on the battery and now there is what sounds like an electronic ticking just to the right of the steering wheel plus the car is running really badly at low revs...it's a lot better at higher revs but not perfect. My question is have I damaged something electronic by jumping it? Or what else could the clicking be? The speed of the clicking goes faster when the revs go up.

Hi it’s advised not to Jump start . I have the same car which I purchased recently from a specialist Jaguar centre and he said because of so many electrical things it could cause a fault

to the ECU.

Jaguar electrics are renowned for causing problems, especially if the battery gets low. Regular use of a CTEK charger/restorer always helps keep battery at full levels required.

Best Wishes and Regards, John
