XF Electronics problems

Hello All

2012 XF Diesel . . . . a great car and I'm very fond of it . . . . .BUT: Electronics faults are becoming a real bugbear and I'm hoping for help finding how to get them sorted. Am in Warwickshire area.

DAB stopped working

The thing that turns the engine off at traffic lights doesn't work

Sound  / speakers dip out; it only takes a tweak of the volume control to get it back.

Parking sensors and camera work intermittently . . . .

Indicators: they work - but there is no accompanying sound.

Anyone know of a specialist - or am I best going to main dealer?

Thank you for reading, and I hope you can help.

A Jaguar Dealer is going to charge you a fortune to diagnose and fix an unknown electrical fault. Welcome to the world of Jaguar electric faults. Best you find a good independent auto electrician, as suggested by Tomato.

As a possible starting point.

What state are your batteries in? These cars are notoriously fickle unless the main battery is producing a healty voltage. In fact, one of the reasons the engine stop / start fails to work is that it detects a low overall voltage.

I can't say all the problems you mention would be connected but I'd certainly consider a new battery if you don't know the age of the present one and may have a bearing upon the faults you describe. The secondary battery has been known to fail but not as often as the main one.

  • 3 weeks later...

Get your self a CTEK MS 7, battery charger re-conditioner and use it regularly. I use mine on my S-type (which are also renown for battery drain) at least once in a fortnight and for at least 24 hours each time. This piece of equipment is used by many people on the forum.

Best Wishes and Regards, John
