I'm after some advice please.

My 2016 XF media system will not 'do' Android Auto, so I'm thinking of purchasing a used media player from a Jaguar XF 2020.

My reasons are that I'd like more functionality and also I'd like to use Apps & satnav from my phone on the car display.

My questions....

Do I just need to purchase the display head unit?

Will it be a direct replacement and have the necessary correct plugs to just connect?

Will I need to replace the small panel in the centre console? (Mine has 1 x USB & 1 x SD slot for satnav & 12V cigarette lighter power source) I've seen some newer ones have 2 x USB & a HDMI slot.

Would I be correct in assuming the satnav (& software) are within the display head unit and are 'serviced' from one of the USB slots?

Will I have to 'code' the 'new' device to my car after installation?

My car currently has the 8" unit with 4 x buttons each side and I'm assuming the new unit will be 10" and the 'buttons' will be electronic buttons within the touch screen.

I'm also assuming it will fit!

I did look into this but it was going to be expensive. For the amount of time i spend in my car is was not really worth the cash.

It was £515 just for the Android auto interface. https://unique-ad.co.uk/product/wireless-apple-carplay-and-android-auto-interface-for-jaguar-xf-2011-2015/

I just got a very good phone cradle that fits into the CD slot and use the Maps etc that way.
