I have a 2012 2.2 XF and the brake warning light is coming on. I would like to know are there any special tools require to do the job and any tip in doing it would be greatly appreciated

Hi. Normal garage tools will be enough (spanners' sockets, Allen keys). Check out You tube for videos. If you're looking for pads, discs and wire, I can recommend MTec brakes in Derry/Londonderry. Free postage. I'm using their EBC Red and drilled discs.

Good luck, Paj.

Because I suffer with this cold weather I got the job done by the mechanic we have used for some 35 years. the back pads were like new front pads just starting to wear the sensor so just changed the front discs. £130 parts and labour. Great value I think

James

I feel one must know what make of discs and pads are used before serious comment can be made on value for money. £130 for pads, discs and fitting certainly sound very cheap to me.

Best Wishes and Regards, John

I did not need discs John as they were in good order and not a lot of wear on them, just the pads, they were EBC pads and sensor. My mech only uses parts he would use on his own vehicles.

                                      Thanks for your input buddy

There are 2 wear sensors, front left and right rear. Did you change the correct one?

Check the connectors on both corners.

Yes they were both checked and the front one changed

If you have a code reader, try resetting it or take the car for a drive.

If it still doesn’t reset then further investigation is required.

Just been quoted £757 for front an rear pads, discs and sensors. By a local Jaguar specialist.

Good value or should I shop around?
