Hi All,

I know this has been covered elsewhere but I am a new to Jaguars and need to be sure as the information I have read seems to be at odds with the manual.

I keep getting the battery warning light up, mainly, I guess, as I do more short journeys than long.

I have a CTEK smart charger and would like to charge the battery.  The manual says I should go and drive around for 30-60 mins depending on the temperature - at £100 a tank that is a very expensive option and will rack up the miles on my low miler.  It also says to recharge the battery it needs to be removed and can only be done by an authorised repairer.

Further reading then suggests that a number of systems like the windows etc will need to be reset.  On reading other posts some say link up another slave battery (not that I have one), one says just put the charger on without disconnection, others say disconnect and reset whatever needs resetting

In over 40 years of motoring I have never known something so basic become so complicated.

Can anyone tell me exactly what I should do, especially as the vehicle has an extended warranty and I don't want to do anything that will void that.  I would appreciate any advice especially from anyone who has actually gone through the process.

Oh, and by the way, for any other newbies out there, the battery is under the spacesaver wheel... took me a while to find it!

Many thanks in advance for  your help

No need to remove the battery for charging. Connect the CTEK to the positive of the battery and the negative to a ground point and you’ll be perfectly ok.
