Are there any garages out there - within Essex or neighbouring counties - that still have the software to read the computers onboard the XK8?  Official local dealer - who would be mega expensive anyway - no longer carries the full program.

Any Jaguar independent specialist should be able to read the codes for you.

A icarsoft i930 code reader would also be useful to you.

What appears to be the problem?

Hi

I am a newbie (Just joined last week) as I have just treated myself to an XKR Convertible 2001 (X100) I already have a 2014 XF Sportbrake which I consider to be the best car I have ever had... including BMW M3, M5, Various Mercs etc.

I changed the battery, as the last owner said that he kept the old one on permanent charge, and got an new Exide 90a 900ah   and then the ABS light wouldn't go off and the 'traction control not working' showed on the scrolling message bar.

I consulted the handbook & managed to clear them as directed by it, but it got me thinking about getting the correct diagnostic tool to read & clear any future messages, and as it happened whilst shopping in Aldi the same evening, there was a cheap basic OBD2 tool for £12.99 in the centre Isle. So thinking that this might be a message from the Gods I got it. The thing is that I couldn't find where to plug it in anywhere in the XKR ( I didn't try the XF)

Then tonight I read about the icarsoft i930 code reader which apparently fits & reads all Jaguars from 1994 to 2014. So I am now confused, and wonder if any member could help with the question: Will it fit the XKR, and where do I plug it in?

Yes it will fit. Sit in the drivers seat, where your right knee is, look under there, that’s where the OBD port is.
