This morning I could not drive my XF - gear selector is stuck in P mode and will not operate , even though it moves up and down . I need to move it short term as it is in the way of my garage door . Apparently there is a secret switch that can be access within the centre console -  doe anyone know where and how  ?

Can anyone assist .

ps - the RAC man that came was a bit lost  !

My 17 Jaguar was stuck in reverse and would t move into park. Purchased a replacement off eBay for $125. Carefully dissembled console area and unplugged old gear selector. Installed replacement and was good to go. Later I took apart the inoperable selector and found that inside there are 2 springs with a little plastic piece on either side of the sheet below the knob. One of the plastic pieces had got caught and fell out making the knob not move. Easy fix anyone can do…well most anyone. Dealer wanted to charge $700 for part and then labor. Easily aaved myself a grand.

I've just had the same issue..... gear selector rises but stuck in park....

I found an auto electrician in Oldham....KG Auto Electrician LTD.....who replaced the two solenoids that cause the problem.

Sent the module Monday and got it back on Wednesday all working fine. Excellent communication and videos of working unit.

Would have cost £500+ at Jaguar...... cost £109 including postage costs.... excellent job.... and a lovely guy.....
