1. Turn ignition key to position one.
2. Release the retaining tang. (This is a silver pin on the side of the assembly that needs to be pushed in.)
3. Remove the ignition switch lock cylinder.

It is a good idea to add your S-type details to your group signature including the partial vin number. This way we all know what model and year yiu are asking about.
See my signature below for an example.

hi

As above for removing the key barrel

but to get the lock out, I recently did this on a friends car

remove the black plastic trim at the front, best is those plastic trim tool, then remove the plastic cover off the end of the dash, just clips off, once off there a large connector block, blocking your access, that also unclips and can be pushed to one side, then the ignition lock slots in at the top and clips in at the bottom, you lift the bottom clip and push the lock into the dash, then unplug the two connectors, its a bit of a fiddle as theres not much space and swap the lock as above.

but you will end up with two keys one for the door and new one for the lock, your next problem is it wont start, because the new key is not programed to the car, transponder in the key remote, we removed the transponder chip from the old key and put it  into the new key so the car would start.

cheers

Joe
