Good Afternoon,

I'm wondering if I could reach out to the jaguar owners club for some assistance in regard to a Jaguar X-type that I now own after my father passed away. After much thought and deliberation, i have decided to part ways with the old Jag as financially it's not economical for me to run it. One slight issue has come to light though, I have kept it in the garage since Nov '22 ( when my father passed away ) and when I finally drove it out on the driveway I became aware of some damage to driver's side front panel and scratches to the front bumper.

Obviously, I am aware that this will reduce the value of the vehicle but the amounts I'm being offered by organisations  like Car Wow and webuyanycar are probably not the best to say the least ( and they haven't seen the damage yet!). I'm not expecting vast sums of cash but even a local trader was very disinterested and offered £600?!

Could anyone advise the best way for me to deal with this and any advice would gratefully be accepted and I look forward to any words of wisdom.

I am open to offers - this could be a project for someone who loves Jaguars or maybe someone would use it for parts - all enquiries welcome!

The car details are as follows -

Jaguar x-type - Reg no - YF03 EZE - Racing Green in colour - 1 owner and only 27,000 miles on clock - MOT due early August - PLEASE BE AWARE the spare set of keys are not working as well - the vehicle is currently on a SORN

Many thanks for your attention and see the enclosed photos

Hi Richard to be really honest with you --you should take the £600 -I gave my 02 X type to my son

it has no marks or scratches on it and full MOT and was said to be worth about £800 ????

Hi Richard

Where abouts in Yorkshire are you. I hate to see old cars not being cherished 🙂

I would also say take the £600, the car is a 2.1 petrol so is less desirable by those of us that want a big engine in a Jag.

Regarding the wing and bumper, a secondhand set of items for £150-200 and you'd be golden or better still green if you found the replacements in the right colour. Put a new MoT on and you might be able to eBay it for £1000-1200, maybe a little more on a good day.

Second option of repairing the body damage and a new MoT and selling it yourself is a lot of work for little financial gain (if any) whereas the dealer offering £600 is taking those risks but also stands to gain more when he sells for £15-1800 all bright and shiny like a new pin....... errrrr Jag even. The problem is, once you start digging to fix the body, you might find other bits that suddenly cost in limb proportions, while i understand that with it being your late fathers car there is some sentimental attachment, sometimes you have to be cold and clinical and evaluate the situation to your best advantage.

Good luck with whatever course of action you decide to take.
