Hi everyone - finally thinking about getting a Jag. I was desperate to get one about 11 years ago and ended up buying a dog followed by an  E Class E320 estate. i still have it 11 years later. Don't hate me for going Merc.  I still have had the craving for a Jag. I had originally been looking at S Types but have now changed to the old original (up to 2008?) XJ Jags. Every time I see one I drool.

Okay here's the strange bit .... and I'd welcome views on how to proceed. I saw an advert on the forum for an XJ Sovereign to go to a good home. Ad says wife's car only driven for 500 miles for past few years. MOT checker says differently 3K, 5K, and 7K over the last 3 years.

Thought I'd ring and throw a few questions to see if genuine or not. I'm a bit cagey when stories don't match. i rang the number and a lady answered  - I asked for Steve and I said I was calling about the car, to which I was told you must have a wrong number.  The poster seems only to have joined to post the ad as I can't see any posts.  Am I being paranoid or is this a case of trust your instincts.

Hi Abe, Welcome to the forum.

I hope you find the car of your dreams.

I have an S type and an XJ8 - 308 Love driving

both but XJ8 is my favourite.

Sorry for delay in replying have been busy over the weekend.

I have removed the ad you responded to

and will look in to it.

Kind Regards,

Julie.

A Merc E class estate (Touring?) is a good choice for a "Dogmobile" so i don't think we can hate you for that. 😛

Good luck in your hunt for a suitable Jag, as for the ad you saw it definitely sounds as if your instincts were correct!
