Hi there, new boy, XK150 FHC owner.

I have a 3.8 triple SU carb version.

Question: Is it possible to "tune" the carbs in situ ?

By "tune", I mean ensuring they are all lifting to the same degree's and in sync with each other, along with checking and adjusting the mixture on each one.

The reason I ask is that even with the air filter box removed, it's difficult to see anything, without perhaps using mirrors on sticks.

Equally, adjusting the mixture on each carb seems virtually impossible with them in situ, unless maybe, they can be reached from the underside of the car with very long arms !!

If anyone has doe this job, be interested to hear how you approached it.

Thanks

I'm assuming these are SU carbs?

Balancing is pretty straight forward with a vac gauge on the carb mouth.

Mixture wise. It's important to check float levels are correct (as this alters the fuel level in the main jet)

That the needle jet in the piston in side the dash pot is correctly seated, the correct size and not worn.

Mixture is then adjusted at idle by using the little "tickle" button to slightly lift the piston and check the idle speed rises and then drops back.

Adjustment is underneath and once you know where it is you can do it "blind"
