Door Mirror Cover Removal on 2019 XF (X260)

The near side door mirror on my 2019 XF (X260) is not moving the full distance up and down and I need to remove the door mirror cover to get at the mechanism which probably only needs lubricating.

How do I get the cover off?

It has been suggested elsewhere that all you need to do is pull up the front of the cover and it pops off but there seems to be no way of easily grasping the front of the mirror cover to pull it up.

Can anyone help?
