Hi all. Can anyone give me some advice please? I have a 2016 Jaguar xe r-sport Diesel Auto. Car was running fine, I pulled into supermarket and parked up, I went to put the car in P (from D) and it would not move. I then turned the engine off (stupid me) Now the car will not start. AA say it is the gear selector which is a common fault on these I believe. The car has been taken to a garage in East London and is still in D. My mechanic is away until Wed and I am trying to find the part number if anyone knows it so I can order the part for when he returns, so the car is repaired a.s.a.p. If anybody could help with this I would be grateful. Many Thanks

Sorry to hear your dilemma, have a look on fleabay, there are a wide range of used parts available for jags.  I've had a quick look, and there's several priced from £60 upwards it's an electro mechanical device, so quickly removed and installed. Hope you get it resolved.

Hi, not sure if you ave sorted this out but couldnt sit by and not reply to this.

this is a JLR known fault, we see at least 1 every couple of weeks.

part number for the Jag equiv would be T2H39458, this is a superseded part number, retailing for £307.80 + VAT

hope this helps! 👍

Thankyou so much for the response. I managed to get it sorted. I found a place in Dagenham, Essex who reconditioned my own one. Firstly, it took 6 minutes to get the unit from the car, I took it to Essex recons Ltd On the Dagenham Docks Ind Estate. They completely refurbished and updated my existing one (better than JLR Factory) for £175, and they did it whilst I waited......It took the engineer 58 minutes to refurbish with new more reliable parts and gave me a 2 year warranty. It took 8 Minutes to refit into the car, now the car runs perfect, and I am a happy bunny. If anyone out there who has the same issue as I had, then just call them, send yours and and receive it back by courier within 48 hours, or call in and it will be done in 1 hour. Their Number is 01708 206343. much cheaper than buying new and definitely better than second hand. If anyone needs their address then please contact me as I want to help any JLR owner who maybe experiencing the same issue. My total outlay by the way was £220 as my mechanic charged me £45 which I am happy with.

Just to give an update........My car was running perfect, and in less than 12 hours of repair, the car was stolen, so am unable to say if the refurb is going to last, (probably another 10 years) but I will never know. Essex Recon Centre are absolutely brilliant........Take your unit in person or send it and they will refurb it.
