Suspension issue maybe?

2005 XJ6 Sovereign,

Hello everyone,

A few months ago I had to replace the front upper wishbone as they failed the MOT. The mechanic let the air out and replaced them, he also screwed up and put the drivers side one on from an XF but that's another story.

The problem I'm having now is the ride is now not what it was, it used to float down the road and hardly felt any bumps, it has been back to the main dealer which is where I found out the wrong wishbone had been installed and they say nothing is wrong now but, I feel there is as it just isn't the special wafty ride it was. It feels harsher

Does anyone have any idea what it maybe or is this all in my head

Hi

usually on these if theres a fault, if it has cats active damping, the suspension will default to hard setting until the fault is cleared

you need to plug in and see if theres any faults, ideally with Jaguar IDS/SDD, but Icarsoft LR V2 or V3 will do it quite cheaply and worth having for any other faults, generic code readers will only read engine faults and nothing else.

but could be a range of things, hard to say with out plugging in

cheers

Joe

Hi Joe,

Got the isoft reader and it came up with 16 faults 4 of which are suspension related, I have booked it back in to the dealer on Monday so hopefully they will sort it

Hi Joe,

Got the car back today from Jaguar dealer, no faults, no problems found. Any other ideas?

hi

do you have any fault codes when you plug in

if so what are the codes

Hi Joe, most things passed the test this morning, a couple of minor faults have come up but nothing from the suspension. Took some photos below

Thx

Mike

HI

sorry for the late reply, have you tried deleteing them first, some of those faults may be quite old

then rescan to see what faults are left

Hi Joe,

No worries, thx for helping

Tried that reset the faults that were there and also unplugged the CATS from one of the front struts and the ride was a lot harder which makes me think the cats is working as it should.

I still feel that it should be better than what it is though, It used to float down the road like it was on, well  ......  air but not any more.

Starting to wonder if this all in my head but considering  this car was well know for an exceptional ride I'm also thinking not.

Not sure where to go from here

Do you think maybe there could be a small electrical issue with the system and it's working but not quite as it should?

grabbing at straws I know

Mike
