How do I reset language from Japanese, for visual and audio.

Hi All,

I've just got a 2010, XF, 3.0 Petrol, Luxury, imported from Japan, with 22,000 miles on the clock.

It's in immaculate condition, but I am having trouble resetting the language to English, from Japanese.

With the help of google translate, I have got the displayed language to English. I managed that with the original CD/Radio still in place.

I couldn't tune the radio to UK frequencies, which didn't surprise me, as the Japanese frequencies used are 76-95 MHz, whereas UK uses 87.5 – 108.0 MHz.

I bought a replacement from eBay, which I thought would solve the problem, but it didn't. In fact, when I compared the markings on the two units, they are identical, both showing a frequency range of 76-108 Mhz., although neither have shown a willingness to reach a setting above 90 Mhz.

In fact, having removed the audio unit from the car for a few days, when I installed the "new" one, the displayed language had reverted to Japanese.

Throughout all my endeavours, the "Jag-voice" has remained Japanese.

Also, although I can connect my phone to make and receive calls via bluetooth, I haven't been able to play music through the speakers.

In the handbook, there are many references to iPads, and making connections via Aux or USB.

Surprisingly, it doesn't look like the music function has been addressed.

There's one thing that I haven't done yet, and that's change the DVD Sat Nav unit. It seems unlikely, but possible, but does anyone know if the spoken voice is generated from that unit, and not the Radio/CD unit.

The car is awaiting 1st registration from DVLA, so remains on the driveway for the moment; I'd like to solve these issues before that's completed, if possible.

Any help will be appreciated.

I had the same problem with my Nissan Elgrand and could not find a fix. I did find that there is a piece of kit, its called Radio Band Expander that you can get that you fit to get the radio to use the frequencies for Brit stations.
