I've been trying to programme my fob on my s type. I've tried various methods but none seem to work. There's a new battery in the fob, any ideas would be much appreciated.

Hi Leigh, are you positive the new battery in the key fob is "good" and making proper contact? There have been a number of reports recently of key fob batteries being "duff" on insertion. That would be a starting point.

I've checked the fob batteries and they're good.  Anyone know what method of key programming may work? Appreciate any ideas.

Hi Leigh, I put "Program S-type key fob" into my search engine and came up with a detailed explanation on Jaguar Forums, see the link below.

It would appear that the YOM of the car is a fundamental issue as the programming software required can be either IDS or SDD depending on the year.  Check out the stuff via the link - mainly in USA.

Hi

if it one of the original keys you just swap the batteries and it should work, if not the fob needs repairing.

if it a new fob your trying to program, they can only be done with software on S-types, there is no manual was of programing them,

far cheaper to get them repaired than to replace, usually around £25 to get them repaired

cheers

Joe
