Hi All, Depending on whether the car has been running for a while, every time I put my foot down to over take there is a shuddering that seems to coming from the gear box. Is it because a lack of Oil? I bought this car in January it's a 2006 Sovereign 3. Liter. Sometimes it's fine and the the kickdown works perfectly it has had a full service and MOT in January. Any ideas ? Keith.

You need to take the car to someone that can properly investigate the issue as forum diagnostics are guesswork/pointers only

It could be a whole host of things however you haven't even bothered to introduce yourself or any details about the vehicle

Hi

Its worth having the Oil changed in the gearbox first

its a ford gearbox on the x-types and quite trouble free

its only uses standard ATF in the Ford box, so a Oil change is quite cheap

if it were anything mechanical it would do it all the time, they dont fix themselves sometimes

cheers

Joe

Hi Keith.

Propshaft bearing can produce that sort of symptom. You can try greasing rather than going straight for a replacement. These threads may be helpful: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x-type-x400-14/info-needed-greasing-prop-drive-shaft-68483/
