Fuel gauge fault

My fuel gauge drops to range 9 without warning when the tank is still half full. Have had new pump, sender unit and tank plus connectors have been removed and hard wired. It's still doing it and it's driving me mad. Anyone else had this problem?

wow, you've already done quite a bit! i'm no expert, but could it be something to do with the instrument cluster itself? just spitballing here, might be way off.
