Coolant system & fans

Hi Guys, I have a 2002 X-Type 2.l petrol. Have just fixed a broken hose and replaced the coolant. All ran ok but ona very short trip the guage went to red the warning lights came on. Stopped the car but the fans continue for at least 8 mins after switching off and there has been no loss of coolant. Any ideas please.

Hi see that u have had no answer to your Q, If I am not mistaken it may be that u have had a air lock in the coolent,fans would work till temp drops, but sure u have sorted it by now...sorry but have just joined, or would have tryed to help earlier
