Austin Healey Sprite (great fun)

Mini 1275GT (quicker, but not as much fun)

Triumph 1300 (attracted by the leather seats, walnut and wool carpets, but it wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding, so lasted 3 months)

Singer Sport (really a sporty Hillman imp)

Fiat 128 Coupe (beautiful little car)

Fiat 124 Twin Cam

Fiat 132

Lancia Delta HPE (also beautiful)

Saab 99 Turbo (the first production car to use a turbo for pure performance reasons)

Audi Quattro (left hand drive: The second in the country, and the original Motorsport test car)

Rover 3500 Vitesse (a total disaster due to poor build quality)

Range Rover

Marlin Roadster (as a second car: Wonderful fun, and I kept it about 10 years)

Range Rover

Range Rover (which I had supercharged by Sprintex, and modified suspension)

Range Rover (same mods as above)

Jeep Cherokee (quickly sold since a very poor tow vehicle)

Nissan Patrol LWB (super reliable, and would go on for ever in a Tonka toy sort of a way)

Land Rover Discovery

Honda Accord Estate

Land Rover Defender 90XS

Jaguar XF3.0D S

Jaguar XK 4.2

I know that there will be others I have forgotten, due to their not being memorable in either a good or a bad way.

My biggest mistake was the Vitesse, which I bought new and sold in six months at a colossal loss.

My best (excluding the XK) was the Quattro, which was fabulously smooth, quiet and quick. I did wonder if it had been blueprinted before it was handed over for testing by Motorsport.

Hi Trevor,

Nice for you to pop in.  Feel free to do so at any time/

And if you can find a good dealer [I do know one in Crewe, but we do things better up North] he could do you a good deal on the new F Type!

Regards,

Peter.

Hello Trevor

Very long time no hear...hope all is well with you?

When are you going to get another Jag then?  as Peter says a new F Type would surely fit the bill ?

Cheers,  Trevor (the other one)

Hello Peter and Trevor,

Things are not too bad thank you, hope everything is ok with both of you.

Will not be getting a other jag after the treatment I received from the dealership and the company themselves.

I very much wanted to like them, but things didn't work out.

I now have had two Mercedes AMG's on the trot and both have run superbly .

I avoid dealerships altogether now. and always will do.

I use and independent garage in Tiverton recommended by someone on this site (who's name I have forgotten) and they are really good.

I have northerners living either side of me who keep telling me how great it is oop north, it's like living in little Manchester .

They are ok though, the new neighbours are a tad arrogant, but friendly enough .

The lady said to  me " For price you paid for 't Mercedes you could have bought a Ferrari "

I said " For the price i paid for the Mercedes I could have moved to a better area!"

The wife is in much better health, but still as mad as a badger.

unfortunately my eldest has now developed the same illness, and being a doctor treats herself with some very unpleasant results resulting in me having to take legal action

My youngest has recently given birth to a boy in San Francisco who she has called Devon.

He was born under the IVF system as her hubby has had cancer of the plums. He has since recovered and seems in good health.

The rest of the family thought "IVF" stood for "Ilfracombe Voluntary Fund" which resulted in me paying for it (which I obviously don't begrudge one bit).

Wishing each and everyone one of you the very best.

ATB,

Trevor

That's quite a range of cars Jon! Are there any that particularly stick out in your mind?

I'm familiar with the new company car every 3-6 months, I used to work in the automotive industry (mainly abroad) until about 30 years ago, and a company car was available to purchase from the minute it went on the road. Consequently driving a new car has never held much attraction for me and in the last 30 years I've only ever bought a new car once, and what a big mistake that was!

The Mk 1 XR2 sticks in my mind but like a lot of cars, I think 'rose tinted spectacles' are at work  here !

My first 325i was the first 'proper' car that I owned, dolphin grey with sport Recaros and 15" BBS cross spoke alloys, spent most of its life sideways. Went through 4 sets of 'branded' tyres in 60k miles !

The 96' JDM Impreza 5 door was awesome, paid £1k for it and was the fastest £1k I have ever spent.

Current STR is one of my favourites, remember selling them new and promised myself one 'one day', everything comes to he who waits.

High hopes for the new company car, XE 3.0 V6 'S' 380ps (due September if everything works out)

2005 - Jaguar S Type 3.0 SE - Bought when I was 15 for pittance still own it now and what a superb classic it is - My toy.

2001 Range Rover P38 Vogue 4.6 - Bought just after I passed my test in 2017 the ideal car for an Agricultural engineer, only issue was i'm consistently penniless, even now need to shift it on really, an expensive daily driver breaks almost weekly.

1991 Range Rover Classic 3.9 manual bought as a fix and quick sale, made some good cash on that, which financed my next purchase

2000 Land Rover Discovery II TD5 probably the slowest and most uneconomical car I've owned. managed 5000 miles before shattering it's flexplate. Currently sorn'd/

1995 Land Rover Discovery I 3.9 LPG it did manage 3mpg on Gas which was horrific, petrol consumption could be measured in yards,  had it for 2 months

2007 Ford Fiesta "Climate" 1.4 bought as a sensible daily, far too boring so I sold it after 3 weeks!

Thats it so far!
