New XF

Has anyone taken delivery of the new 2.2 XF yet? Mine is "building" but I still don't have a delivery date and I am starting to get impatient!

Don't be too impatient.you might not like what you get.

Beware of fuel surge in the tank which can result in bumbs and thumps when braking at low speeds.

Jaguar say that this is acceptable!!!!!!!!!

Have you experienced any thumps from the back caused i am told, by fuel surge when braking at low speeds to a virtual stop Appears to be worse when the tank isalmost full.

would appreciate your comments as i am in dispute with Jaguar who say that this is "NORMAL" and "acceptable"

I have heard a thud from the boot area and I will mention it to Jaguar next time I speak but I am happy with the car

Picked up my 2.2 on Tuesday. Beautiful car, silent, smooth and oh so comfortable. Just finshed a 400 mile run, averaged 71 MPH and 50.9 MPG. Awesome

Well i have tried all avenues with Jaguar and they are the most devious slippery lot that one could ever meet.

They still insist that the bumps and thumps emanating from the rear (caused by fuel surge) are "an operating charactestic" and are applicable to ALL XF models, repeat ALL XF models.

Strange that when first reported to Jaguar they were at a loss to give a reason suggesting that the fixing pads on the fuel tank were suspect.

When i pursued the issue over a period of months,all of a sudden Abracadbra, out of the hat came the best excuse i have heard since Ford produced the model T Oh it's an operating characteristic, so go away and live with it.

Something a back street under the arches dealer called Arthur Daly would have been proud of.

As soon as it is financialy possible i will go back to my old marque BMW,now there really is a car and the best back up service ever

Hi Excaliba ....How on earth did you manage 50.9mpg? The best i can get is 45mpg at a constant 70.

My XF2012 2.2D has not shown any signs of bumps from fuel surge. I noted some juddering which was eventually traced to a faulty disc brake which caused the off side rear disc brake to disintegrate. After repair there was some problem on the same wheel with the handbrake locking on but that has now also been fixed. The only other noticeable thing is that when driving at around 30mph it can try to select a gear which is too high to achieve good fuel economy and that can cause some vibration in the cabin from the engine as it labours a little. Not a major issue though and I guess Jag engineers know best.

ive driven my new XF2.2 diesel nearly a year now and have never suffered fuel surge . Ive owned six different x-type models in the past loved them all but i have to say the new XF is leagues ahead of the x types ive owned in every department. Thanks Jaguar for a great car
