Having recently purchased a 1998 x308 3.2 Sport which had a dealer fitted replacement engine in 2005 under the Jaguar replacement scheme I am assuming that this engine will have been 'last off line' and will have had the metal bodied tensioners and improved water pump. Am I correct in my reasoning?

The invoice dated 2005 from the main dealers shows supply and fit 'engine pack' at a parts cost of just over £3000. The final bill shows the reduction of this amount to the previous owner. The local garage which later serviced the vehicle told me that Jaguar had footed the bill following the failure of the blow by test, which is evident from the invoice. Do you think that at that parts cost that it is likely to be just the block or the complete engine? I am now not able to contact the previous owner to clarify this.
