Nice to see fenn motor works will give you advice over the phone, instead of the usual just bring it in sometime. It's hard to find a garage that will speak about your problems on the phone it's as if they need to be plugged into the computer along side of the car before they can say anything

Anybody know of Moonwhizz in Ashtead, Surrey? Picking up my first Jag this week and the dealer advised I should join the JOC and find a recommended Indy garage. I live in Epsom.

Hi Paul, and Welcome to the Club.

There is a list of recommended Garages in the Jaguar Owners Lounge Forum on this site.

Regards,

Peter.

We give advice over the phone all the time, recently a call from Australia. I think you will find that most indies will do that. There are obviously times when a diagnosis cannot be done over the phone and it does need to be put on the diagnostic kit to find the correct solution.

I know where your coming from. But everytime I've rang a garage I've never received any sort of info over phone for eg could be this could be that just try this before you bring it in? It's always been just bring it in sometime and leave it with us

Hi All

Been reading through all the recommended Independants, could only find two suggested anywhere near my location SE12 Lee (south east london) one in SE20 8JY 'J&D's Autos' I google Mapped it, and unless I am blind, it was just a street full of houses, although there were two Jags on the street S type & XJ.

Then Next one recommended Was Les Pauls Woodford green, I could only find two reviews (Land rover & range rover) one gave 5 stars the other 1 Star, the setup looked very familar / similar to Lancasters in Sidcup, otherwise know as Jardinemotors http://www.jardinemotors.co.uk/jaguar/?ito=GAG16856789407&itc=GAC75074913487&itkw=lancaster%20jaguar%20sidcup&itawmt=e&itawnw=search&itadvc=c&gclid=CLGJlIbq2MgCFWXnwgodq4wGEA

They did a fantastic job for me when i first got my car, however they are not cheap! (does any one know if they are Independants or main dealers?) I have only been to them twice, so very limited experience but both times, very good impressions. I tend to judge a garage by the cleanliness and orderly fashion of the workshop, pretty much spotless it has to be said. They collected my car the first time it went in, and dropped it off again after the work, nicely cleaned and hoovered, they even washed and hoovered the car the second time, (I was only getting my spare key Programmed!)

Anyhow, I would really like to hear of any other recommended Mechanics / Body shop in my area, someone did ask about Bexleyheath DA6, that would also be fine for me. I could stay with these guys above, but would much rather keep some of my money in my pocket, and build a rapport with a local mechanic.

Cheers

Steve

I highly recommend these people. Although not a Jaguar specialist, they are very knowledgeable, very polite, helpful and prices are very reasonable. They are on the Surrey/Hants/Berks border.

Avoid JAG union street wolverhampton if you have a newer model Jag.

He told me he could replace the headgasket on my 2011 XKR 5'0 V8, and only after taking car in has said he can't get the tools to do the job. I contacted Jaguar direct who said any independent can buy the tools but they are expensive. The guy at J.A.G said that Jaguar will not supply! Strange...

Either way now he is putting my car back together so I need to find someone else..

Can anyone recommend someone in the west midlands who can do the newer Jags? Thanks..

Hi HArmz,

I think that there is an Independent garage in Northfield - listed in the Jaguar owners lounge who are very well respected.

Regards,

Peter.

You are right Peter, I can personally recommend Rob at Northfield Garage

Go to: www.jagsparesandrepairs.com  I recently had a new timing belt fitted to my 2010 XF.

OK, now for a real challenge. My S-Type 2.7 SE is newly imported to Tarn et Garonne 82150 in France. It was last maintained by Preston Jaguar Centre but this is just too far to commute! If anyone has a recommendation in this area I would be both amazed and grateful. I am aware of the Continental Automobile Service, a Jaguar franchise in Villeneuve sur Lot but have no experience of them.

Sorry, Barry, The last time I spent a long time in France was when I cycled to the South of France for a fortnight and stayed a month.

Googling around though, there does appear some English Mechanics in France   --  Mechanic06, and the English Car Mechanics.

Regards,

Peter.

Hello everyone,

I'm coming across from France for a very few days (End March / Early April 2016) to prepare my car for sale. Can anyone recommend a garage in Kent where I can have it properly serviced and MOT? I'll be staying near Canterbury.

Many thanks for any help.

I have just come across this topic..

Anyone in the Manchester, Bolton, Wigan area I would recommend http://jagman.co.uk/...used them regularly over the past 6 years with no complaints.

Their address.....Jagman, Platt Street, Platt Bridge WN2 5DA...(Dave)

I also use a Jaguar trained mobile mechanic named Ian Caton...Cato Auto's Tel No  07709 345351

Ian is an excellent mechanic, does not overcharge. I have been using him over the past 8 years on all family cars....no job to large!!!

He is based in Leigh area.......the down side is that he is always very busy and not always able to do urgent work.

Chadd's Garage

Porth Y Waen, Oswestry, SY10 8LX

01691 831633

speak to Chris, he's not a Jag specialist, but is 100% reliable and what he doesn't know about any vehicle isn't worth knowing, full diagnostics and only uses manufacturer parts. Chris has been servicing my cars for 7 years and has never let me down. Roughly £35.00 labour charge p/h, which kicks the stealers.😊

cheers

Hi guys!

Love that this thread exists! I was just thinking about this and thankfully someone has answered my question.

I've only owned my Jag for a little over a month now but I would appreciate if you guys could recommend any good and trusted garages in the Greater London area, within the M25?

Thanks!

Specialist in Northumberland.

Coquet Motors in Amble deal in all makes but the owner is a time served Jaguar Technician and very knowledgeable on all JLR models. They have full diagnostics and seem like a canny bunch of lads. My only dealing with them to date was an MOT on my X350 today but I will certainly use them again.
