I had a quote from Adrian Flux, just another comparison site, sadly the quote for my 2006 S-Type was about £100 more expensive than Tesco Car Insurance, so I went with Tesco

sorry

Sorry to hear that. It doesnt always work out for everyone. I know I saved well over £100 from the comparison sites so it can work for some.

Make sure Tesco do not add on Voluntary Excess as well as compulsory excess.. i found Tesco hide the Voluntary Excess when I got a quote, in small text.

I got my quote from compare the market, and was surprised to find that my S-Type is cheaper to insure than my X-Type was by about £50, its also slightly cheaper to tax, both were 3 litre, anybody know why this is??

Goodluck with Tesco Lombard, they were pretty ruthless when it came to my pet insurance.

Mentioning the name Adrian Flux makes my skin crawl at the moment, despite me being impressed with their professional paperwork and efficient handling at the start of a policy. Maybe want to read up on them before taking any of their 'oh so low' offers. Especially if you want customer service (which is important to me) as they really save money by not having any care for their customers with rudeness and attitude in abundance (complaint in writing on it's way). I like anyone loves a low insurance quote, but I also want to feel that my insurance company (or broker) has my back should something go wrong, Adrian Flux would not IMHO. They have hidden charges and admin fees from every direction and that low original quote won't look so rosy after a few months.

I have however read good things about A-plan, Greenlight and Chris Knott Insurance from other high performance car drivers. Greenlight actually quoted me £291.40/year less than Adrian Flux today for a more inclusive full comp cover. My search for an even better deal and reputation for customer service continues...

If anyone has any recommendations I can try next for a quote please let me know?

Well, being confortably over 50  I got my S-Type 2003 V6 3 Ltr.Auto covered full comp. for £401.16, so pretty pleased with that against the competition!

Lancaster Insurance are my favourite insurance company. I have my 420g, my XJ6 (1997), my XJs-C, and a 4.2 xj6 coupe (1976) are all insured for £700-, although they are obviously all collectibles  I think it is very good value for money. Of course I haven't had a need for a payout so I can't give any recommendation really, but I think this is great. Of course, I took Admiral insurance for my 2000 'S' type 4litre, and that came in at £1000-, which was the best on "compare the market". Personally, I think they are all utterly ruthless when it comes to insurance. (apart from aforementioned Lancaster Insurance) I will qualify for Saga next year. See what they charge.
