I need to replace a passenger-side window switch on my 2003 S-type. Can anyone tell me how to get the switch out without damaging any part of the door trim?

Hi BarryS.

I think the best thing to do in your situation, would be to purchase a haynes or similar work shop manual. This should give you a better idea of how the door trim is fitted together. It might be the case that you have to remove the door card, this will probably be time consuming but worth doing if it saves you scuffing the door card. I'm sorry I can't give better advice. Good luck.

Hi Adam

Thank you for the reply. As far as I know there isn't a Haynes manual for the S-type but I think I'll buy a manual in CD-ROM form - I've seen several on e-bay.

It's quite possible that none of the door trim has to come out - its one of those simple-seeming jobs which could result in breaking something, so I wanted to see if anyone else had done it before I went ahead.

HI Barry.

You know, I rather took it for granted there would be a Haynes manual for a car as popular as an S-Type. My mistake! I'd go for the CD-Rom version in absence then.

I had a quick look at the panel you are talking about online, and I see what you mean. There is nothing really obstructing the panel, it looks like it could lift right out. I briefly asked a friend earlier who breaks cars if he'd ever dismantled an S-Type just in case, however still no luck.

I hope someone else on the forum can give you better advice than me! Good luck.

Hi Adam,

Thanks for taking the trouble. I haven't bought the CD-Rom yet, but I'll let you know how I get on.

Barry
