We have recently swapped our 2005 x type for a 2006 s type 2.7 sports.

A very impressive motor with a lot going for it, my only critisism is the steering does seem very heavy, the garage i bought it from assure me this is quite normal considering the car and tyres.

Are the 2.7 Sports normally heavy or is this a problem I need to pursue.

Hi Derek, I own an S-Type a 2002 3.0 litre SE and I can assure you my steering is not heavy, in fact it is as light as any car I have driven. Unfortunately I think you may have a problem, take it back to the garage you purchased it from and insist that it is not correct and that they need to rectify it, particularly if you have some form of warranty with it. Best of luck, I hope it all works out well for you. Best wishes Geoff.

Thanks Geoff,

The garage are trying to tell me its due to it being the sports model with wider wheels and lower suspension.

Very confused am getting conflicting stories from different people, I could go and get it checked at Jag main dealers but am reluctant to pay out more money while the car is under warrenty.

Hi again Derek, I don't buy the story the garage are giving you. Surely a sports set up would require the steering be MORE responsive, but maybe this only applies to top end speeds I don't know? Anyway I don't think it would hurt to give your local Jaguar dealership a ring and just ask what they think, or perhaps even take it along and see if someone there can take it for a short drive to assess the steering, no need for you to go to the expense of a Jaguar garage check on it. Hopefully another club member who has a 2.7 sports will read these posts and maybe shed more light on the subject. Please keep me informed, I hope you can get the problem resolved quickly and at no cost. Good luck and best wishes Geoff.

I know it is the bleeding obvious, but you have checked the tyre pressure, and that the correct size tyres are fitted? You will find plate with info on front drivers door windscreen pillar.
