New member, having recently bought an XF luxury 3.0 diesel. So far very disappointed but hoping to be turned. Car is full of rattles, squeakes and problems that cannot be explained. Has been in and out of dealership but as soon as one thing is resolved then something else happens. Seems whenever I take the car out there's something else to worry about.

Currently: waiting to go back for major rattle on driver door (4th time to dealer). Passenger door handle sticks open, squeaky brake peddle, rattling centre console, fuel cap either won't open or shut - so a bit of a lottery filling up, lights stay on even on bright days, wipers are next to useless on auto as they are either on too much or not enough.

I've had enough to be honest, dealer is poor. It takes forever to get through on the phone, they rarely call back and it has got to the point where I now have to drive 5 miles to he dealer if I need to talk to them.

Back to BMW or Merc unless my opinion can be changed soon.

Welcome, sorry to hear of your problems, could be an idea to contact Jaguar directly and explain the situation, also could be worth telling the dealer that you are not satisfied with the way they have dealt with your complaints and that you are taking it another dealer, but at their cost, also could worth saying the dealer that you are contacting your local trading standards officer at the council, that the car is not fit for purpose, due to the amount of times that it has gone back to the dealer and problems still not resolved, good luck.

Thanks. I will certainly be contacting the GM at the dealership regarding how unhappy I am and the poor service I have been recieving?

When I picked the car up on Friday, after it going in all day to fix the rattling door, the rattle was still there as bad as ever, I heard it before I had even left the dealer forecourt. Went straight back in and had a good moan (again). It is now going back in again next week - the 5th time for same problem!

To top it all I was told on Friday that they had lubricated the brake pedal but it had made no difference to the squeek. In order to find out what the problem is they need to strip it down. Unfortunately as they don't know what it is and therefore covered under the warranty, I would have to authorise the payment of £280. If it is covered under the warranty once they strip it down, I wouldn't have to pay.

I have never known such a thing.

Do not sign for any work that should be covered under warranty, just tell them you are contacting your local trading standards officer, good luck, hope you get your problems resolved.

When the problems are resolved, will put a smile back on your face, nothing worse than an unhelpful dealer, especially when they are not resolving the problem.

Just as an update - getting there slowly? The car went in for the 5th time for the door rattle, they replaced the window rubber and door handle (shame they didn't screw the handle in correctly as it came off in my hand the next day). Anyway fixed now but I don't think this is the last of the rattle. Although now the door mirror doesn't work, so it will need to go back for that.

They have replaced the pedal box to get rid of the squeak under warranty, so that's good news.

Oh my god the car sounds a pain in the !Removed!! The lights staying on in the day, are they not the daytime running lights or doesnt it have them? I have a VW with the daytime lights and they look brighter than the dipped beam! Sometimes you start the engine on a dark morning and because the lights come straight on you can drive off thinking the proper headlights are on. I think if a car comes with the day lights thesedays they are meant to stay on permanently and are now included in M.O.T. Volvos had them years ago but now seems all new cars over here have to have them, I just find them annoying myself.

They are not daylight running lights, just on auto. They come on when the light is anything but very bright sunlight therefore I seem to be driving around with them on the majority of the time. I suspect the sensor is not working correctly and coming on at the wrong light level.
