Jaguar voice commands

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have an S-type 2006, and I have tried for the first time since I have owned it to program the voice system.

However being a techno dope I fell at the first hurdle.

I pressed the steering wheel button as it says in the hand book, and waited for the beep, nothing, over and over again.

Is there another way, or is it faulty.

Would anybody know please.

Regards Trevor.

I am in the same boat as you. They say my wife's car is equiped, but I can not get it to work.

The dealer went so far as to say that VC did not come out until 2011. When I showed him my owner's manual with the instructions for an S-Type written in 2006 he said he did not know how that could be.

I went to another Brittish car shop, and they stated that with the button on my steering wheel, their brittish contact stated it is equipped. They want me to leave it with them so they can diagnose why it is not responding.

More later.

Opening an old thread, that would suggest that voice isn't fitted. Does the word "Mute" appear in the instrument panel message centre?

Our '07 S-type SE has Jaguar Voice which works well without having to be programmed in to either of our voices (which are very different).  However, it doesn't particularly like background noise and can, as a consequence, do odd things if, for example, there is a good bit of traffic noise.     We found it a good idea to be familiar with the prompts, as detailed in the Jaguar Voice handbook.

Certainly works better than our own voice control over our 3 dogs; one word from us and they do as they please, although they do respond well to an Acme whistle!

As always, happy growling  :cat:

My s type has quite a lot of factory fitted optional extras, which include a proper spare wheel - a rare thing to have these days.  The two main things it does not have are Jaguar Voice, and TV screens, for which I am thankful

I've just purchased a 2.2D tourer which DOES have the VA installed.  However........I have to train the system to my voice, to which I need the document from which I have to read from..........which is of course pretty much the only documentation missing from the folder lol.

Don't suppose anybody has a copy of it do they ?????

The VA has never been set up since new, the voice prompts from the car says to read command line 1 from the training card etc etc then store it into the system.  So I can't repeat anything as it doesn't audibly tell me what to say
