Hope one one might be able to help. My 2009 XF Luxury has developed a squeaky brake pedal. The dealer has lubricated it but it didn't cure the problem. They say they need to strip it down at half a days labour. If not covered on the warranty then I will need to pay myself. Any idea what it might be and the likelihood that it wouldn't be on the warranty?

Car has developed so many problems recently, this is just another issue

hi

Have you taken a look? Does the spring points need lubricating? Also have you tried WD40 on the joints?

The dealer said they did, but it didn't cure the squeak. I did look but the problem is you cannot see or easily get to much. Hence why they are saying they need to strip it down. they said it could be the 'pedal box' , whatever that is?

Sorted, they had to replace the pedal box. This is a large box under the footwell, inside are two springs that control the pedal return, feels like a different car, nice and solid feel and no noise from the pedal. They performed it under warranty.
