Hi

I am looking to buy an XK8/XKR convertible in the next few months.

I've done some research, but know from other forums, the best place for honest and plain advice is the marques clubs.

It must be a convertible

It will be my daily drive and my budget will be 10k max, so i know i will be looking pre 2001.

All advice welcome

For my money I'd always want the R as its power is a dream to use but the xk8 goes plenty well enough and you will buy newer or less miles.

Have you looked at Arun Jaguar? They have older stock but specialise in Jaguars. Probably better than buying from a general dealer.

Welcome, First things is make sure it has a FSH, also get an HPI check, if the car does not look in good condition or is dirty when you go to view the car, could be well to walk away, as has probably not been looked after very well (but not always the case), check all the paperwork matches up vin No.' etc, if you are using the car daily, is your commute motorway, or town travel, as this will affect the mpg, check tyre wear, as another dear thing to buy for the cat, also condition of the wheels and exhaust, good luck with your purchase.

Thanks for the tips guys.

commute will be mostly M/W, about 50 miles per day.

My current car is a Saab 93 vert (with a bit of troll dust added, ahem), which is giving me about 32mpg with a restricted right foot. Driven with more aplomb drops to 25 (av) very easily, so not expecting to put too much more thru the Jag.

Last year I did 20k miles, usually about 18k per year.
