Don't ever get a red car, Trevor.

The first one I ever had was a Ford Escort [company car] and I was hit in the rear in Market Weighton.

The second was an Austin Montego [company car] and was hit  on the passenger side by an idiot coming out of a side road who failed to see me.

The third  was a Jaguar X Type that was stolen.

Only three red cars in 50 years and only three such incidents.

Never get a red car.

Peter.

Peter,

What's wrong with a red car? us southerners can drive you know, and there is less theft down here. better than a black one, they get dirty just looking at them.

She is still going on about it.

Charlie,

I think it is because you northern peeps have weird tastes, after all you do eat tripe! mind you here in Devon the eat seaweed

She is still pestering though !

ATB,

Trevor (there are worst things in life than complaining about getting jags)

I have never eaten tripe in my life,Trevor, Pies yes  --  I will have a steak and kidney pie tonight for dinner with Jersey Royals.  Home made  --  I made it.

I thoroughly enjoyed driving my wife's XR3i convertible in Brilliant Red  --  but I didn't own it!!

Red cars stand out and thieves like them.

Regards,

Peter.

Peter,

Not much thieving in Devon, thankfully, hence the cheaper insurance.

I've never had tripe either, don't eat pies as the heart doesn't likes stuff like that , although i do yearn for the odd Bedfordhshire clanger occasionally .

I have eaten jellied eels and whilst working in Libya octopus tentacles ( yes I did say tentacles) which were both disgusting.

She who must be obeyed is currently sulking as I won't but the red XK-R , but that will pass and she'll want something different shortly, such as clothes or jewellery .

( a very hounded) Trevor

I am allowed a pie once a month in order to remain within my healthy regime, as also with fish and chips.  Pork scratchings and crisps are also out!

Luckily I don't have to do 8 miles runs or 30 press ups every day!

Peter,

Never eat anything like that since the heart attack, walk three miles at 6-00am every morning, ride 15 miles a day on the excercise bike, plus use the rowing machine daily, also walk about 8 miles every Sunday over Exmoor .Build all my own food, and never eat out.

ATB,

Trevor ( Still holding out on the XK-R)

You are stilll a youngster, Trevor, but you are doing the right things to stay that way.

I will be 80 in three weeks and I want to do the things to stay as fit as I am now.

Unfortunately the mechanics of the body is not holding out like it was, although the technical bits are still OK -- I think!

Peter,

I am a pensioner in September, after flat lining I had to make changes to my lifestyle, hence the above.

ATB,

Trevor (quite fit for my age, but always knackered)

Charles,

Diets don't work, but to lose weight is simple, just eat less and exercise more, also cut down on the alcohol . I don't eat any known fat, salt or sugar, never eat out, and never buy pre packed food.

We don't eat chips down south, we have salad.

Best wishes,

Trevor ( thinner, healthier, but still being pestered)

We do the five/2 diet, plus careful choice of food. It works.

Getting older, as both of us are, brisk walks are out of the question, as are longer walks.

The healthy life style has lost me 3 stones in 18 months.

The only downside is having to buy news shirts and new suits.

Peter.

Posted

Peter,

I've lost fours stone, but don't do suits

ATB,

Trevor

I still walk a few corridors of power now and then, so a suit is de rigeur, unfortunately.

I will be in my old posh office in Covent Garden on Tuesday   ---  they still regard me as a legend  --- and then I will go round to Berners St to buy my daughter a drink.

Regards,

Peter.

thanks for the advice trevor and peter to. since ive stopped working we have put on a lot of weight. HM blames the medication. which is partly true. but all the chocolate ,ice cream and all the other rubbish and portion size at meal times are to blame. as is lack of exercise is to blame. i could do with losing 3and half stone . my suits dont fit anymore. we are renewing our vows on 24th next month was hoping to lose a stone before that or its a new suit

Posted

Charles,

Renewing your vows ? I shake my head in amazement, all I can say is that she can't pester as much as mine does!

Charlie,

I think your new nickname has got to be Mr Softee!

I am beginning to weaken over the XK-R , but there are worst things .

Also surely " her" and "happy" in the same sentence is a contradiction ?

ATB,

Trevor

Posted

Charlie,

I must be Mr Softee, it looks like the XK-R is coming, my birthday present by the look of it .

Oh well, i'll just take the punishment !

noticed you have changed you pic already haha the xk-r is a cracker mind the offer of a swap is still open haha

Posted

Charles,

Haven't actually got it yet, so it might not be that actual one, but it will be a XK-R and will have a Bowers and Wilkins audio system in it.

Drove a good few "toys" yesterday, but the Jaaaaag is still the best.

They are sorting me something out today, and are trying to get that actual car, if not they are getting in touch with Jaguar to sort something.

I prefer the XK-R to the FType R .

Hopefully this will shut the wife up.

Saying all that, the XJ Supersport is a fantastic car, just too big for my needs really, and for the cart tracks around here .

My birthday isn't until September when I become a proper pensioner. Used to like Bentleys, but think they've gone down the hill since the Germans bought them out, they're just VW bits put together by northern chappies now

ATB,

Trevor ( not being hassled as much )

The young salesman from the stealership is going to the posh auction where the traders go to on Thursday, and is picking me up a 2013 XK-R Coupe with less than 7000 on the clock .

ATB,

Trevor ( I'll never succumb to the devil's fuel!)
