Hi burl

Thank u for the welcome, yes it's my first jaguar I first looked at it due to my last car (vectra) was very expensive to run, so I went for a test drive and was very impressed with it.

Hi Simon, welcome to the club and Jag ownership, your car looks mint, I don't think you can go wrong with silver.

Best regards,

Dave

Hi Dave

Thank u for the welcome and comments, when I looked at car the one thing I knew I needed to to was get rid of the rusty looking brake calipers and chose gold which I think look well on it.

HI Simon, they look good tucked away beneath your alloys - I must admit I didn't spot them when I looked at the pic earlier - clearly a discrete job  .  Did you take the calipers off, strip down and paint?

My rears need some attention, as like yours they are rusty.  Last year I took the wheels off to give  a deep clean, arches too, I didn't have time to do the calipers so gave them a good clean but looking at them the other week they need some tlc - maybe a job this summer :)

Do you have any jobs planned?

Best regards,

Dave

Hi Burl, uploading pictures is a little pain as you need to put them on the web - I use photobucket, obviously you need to register for an account, it's all free, it's only when you get beyond a GB that you may have to pay for storage.  Bearing in mind you need to keep the photo there, you use the url to link it to this site and if you move the photo or delete it the url is lost/the photo lost from this site.

Within photobucket you can create your own files/albums and make some adjustments to the photo such as cropping it or resize (decent cameras give you a picture which could be around 2.5MB which is great quality but large for a forum like this) so resizing allows you to reduce it to a more manageable size - which allows you to upload them quicker.  Admittedly you can do this on your PC, you don't need to crop and resize on photobucket.  There are other similar photo storage sites.

Once your photos are uploaded you copy the url and can either post them in the Gallery or in a post - for inserting in a post you select the image icon above (bottom row 11th from the left) you paste the url in there and hey presto you're in business :D

Obviously we'll see if this has worked

Regards,

Dave

To be honest Dave I left the calipers on i got a bit of masking tape, I was very careful with brush in hard to reach areas, all I used was a wire brush on them and a screw driver to help get lumpy bits off, I'm also a member of celica club uk to, on calipers of my old celica I used yellow hammerite it was a blue car and looked very well, on the jag I wanted to make it look cleaner behind wheel but thought the best colours wud be gold or silver, think it depends on colour of car.

As for any jobs planned thinking of getting a hid kit for headlamps due to normal x type problems

Hi Simon,

Well from the general photo it looks a good job and I think the gold works very well.

I know what you mean about leather, sooo much easier to keep clean and the occasional conditioning, have you looked at swapping the seats out with the leather equivalent?  You may even benefit from some extra features as the wiring loom would accommodate.

I've had leather in my last five cars and it would be a must have on any subsequent cars, yes it can get a little hot when the car has sat out in the sun but it is so much better on many levels.

Best regards,

Dave
