Hello everyone - my first Jaguar and my first forum membership - I'm hoping that I can gleam new information from you (and hopefully add some).

I collect my car this week and wondered if there was a proving ground or facility that Jaguar owners visit for familiarity and handling of their cars. I asked the dealer but he mentioned that it was something that he wished Jaguar did offer. I'm not interested in thrashing the car around a track, however in previous ownerships of M-series BMW's, I was giving a day 'on the track' with a pro driver and met other owners.

It proved really useful to know what your car did - knowing that you would actually never drive it like that in reality.

Also, I have just come out of company car insurance cover - and so feel that I am being thrashed for new policy private cover. I've bought this car for private use, having giving back my company car.

I'd welcome any suggestions from Forum members as to how they jumped that hurdle.

Thanks again, I will read previous threads on everything but wanted to get started on the forum.

Hi Mike,

Welcome to the forum and Jag ownership.  It would be a nice start to see some phots of your new cat - make us all a bit envious :D

As to a specific Jaguar track, proving ground I'm not aware of any and I guess if the dealer wasn't aware of anything it doesn't exist.  The alternative would be to use existing tracks, Thruxton or the like, the only down side would be finding a pro driver who specialises on Jags.  If you do find something make sure you post it, I think there would be substantial interest.

What's your experience with private insurance?  I've just re-done mine for a 4.2 v8 which came in under £260 :D   :D

Best regards,

Dave

Many thanks Dave.

That's a fantastic deal on your insurance.

The best I've managed is sub £600.

I've not had much opportunity over a very wet weekend to give the car a fair test.

I'll get some pics up that I've done on my phone.

Next bit is - how?

Hi Mike,

Not sure with the phone, I've loaded mine via a laptop using a web-photo site like photobucket.  Once loaded I copy the url and insert using the picture icon above (just beneath the smiley).  Only thing to be mindful, if you move or delete the photos you loose the url which looses the link.

Best regards,

Dave
